Barge capsizes off Misamis Oriental
A barge capsized off the waters of Laguindingan in Misamis Oriental while being towed by a tugboat from Tubay, Agusan del Norte enroute to Iligan City due to “rough seas.” A report received by Philippine Coast Guard commandant Vice Admiral; Eduardo D. Tamayo from the Coast Guard Northern Mindanao district identified the barge as “Paz I.” The report also said that no one was hurt in the incident that occurred on Sunday morning. It was gathered that the workers and crew of the ill-fated barge were immediately rescued by the crew of the towing tugboat and Coast Guard personnel aboard the search and rescue ship SARV-3503 that rushed to the site from Cagayan the Oro City. Meanwhile, Tamayo said that he has already directed the owners of “Paz I” and the tugboat “Mae Martina” to immediately file marine protests.
