Chowking Velez Branch of Cagayan de Oro City SUCKS!
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Because they offer free WIFI connection, but if you have already consumed what you ordered then that’s the time they will let you feel that you are not welcome and they want you to stop what you are doing with your laptop computer. Worst is, in the middle of doing something important online, they secretly cut off your connection from their server, just to forcibly stop you from spending more time on their fastfood premises using their WIFI internet connection.
No wonder why the place is not that hit for people to dine in, because aside from being located in an inconvenient corner of the highway intersection, parking space is also untimely, tiresome and difficult. Not only that, manager and crew members are not that friendly the time you enter the area. Yes, they greet you “Welcome to Chowking Sir!” But the gestures on their face while greeting you is like “Welcome to Hell Sir”.
It really pissed me off being a victim of this Chowking branch’s unprofessional service. Like what I have said above. I was accessing their internet connection via WIFI just an hour ago while writing a Blog entry and they cut my connection off while I was browsing and chatting with friends and even trying to finish a report to client. If that’s their system anyway in using wifi internet connection in the area then, what the heck putting that service? People like me cannot just use Wifi connection for just 30 minutes or so. We need at least an hour to fully use the service because aside from manipulating the keyboard and mouse browsing and doing some reports, we are also eating at the same time. So, eating alone consumed that 30 minutes.
F*ck Chowking Velez branch then for having a very poor service quality when it comes to customers like me and probably with other customers too. I won’t promise that I will no longer eat at chowking because I like some of their foods, I only hate that Chowking Velez Branch in Cagayan de Oro and I promise, if ever I go back to that place and if they do that again to me, they can really have the bite of what I can do to let them know how idiot those crew members out there on that pathetic CHOWKING Velez Branch.

That’s very unprofessional! Thanks for the heads up.. at least I won’t visit that branch anyway.
I can not 100% agree with the post. As entrepeneurs we need to have an open space at all times as much as possible gain, if not maintain a good income. Making a way to make room for more customers is part of the business.
Speaking of accomodating customers thats where my other 98% that I agree with the post.
THAT IS RUDE!
THAT IS CHEAP!
AND THAT IS DOWNRIGHT CHEAT!
How can you expect people to eat and surf all at the same time. The purpose of Wifi is to make people stay longer and order more.
Yes it is to horde people IN but not kick people out!
Just to say a little phrases to atleast inform the customer, it is cowardice to directly cut the connection directly!
I can expect that ANY job no matter HOW EASY is tiring. But that comes within the territory of their job description.
I will not visit that branch and tell other people to do the same. its a short ride to other foodchains anyway.
***and oh by the way, no need to tell the manager, I think the chain of command can help as assume that the manager is fully aware of that, infact I think its part of his commands before the week starts***
Thanks guys… I am now feeling ok, knowing you all supports me…
Gusto siguro nila nga mag out na ko because it is lunch time and medyo dumami na ang tao that time… but they can really talk to me properly kung gusto nila talaga akong umalis na at para makagamit na ang ibang customers… but hindi ganun ang nangyari… they cut off my connection, I tried reconnecting but cannot reconnect even though malakas ang signal… so probably changed na ang password or di ko alam bakit di na ako maka connect.
packing sheet of papers talaga ano…
i would not go there anymore because of this post! =)
i will not go there anymore diay… hehehehe
OMG! that was totally rude and very unprofessional! they could’ve at least warned you or approached you man lang so you won’t look stupid trying to reconnect to nothing! They seriously need customer service training!
I never liked that specific place anyway, not much of a chowking fan too..it doesn’t look clean and comfy to me. I remember one time when we were having our first UNO orientation downstairs, while our speaker was speaking, one crew just walked right infront of him to go to one side of the room without any gesture of excusing himself!! my God! the speaker jokingly said, excuse me..I don’t know if the crew heard that because we got no reaction from him! gosh!! plus we were not able to use the venue right om time as agreed! hahayyyzzz!!
WTF..!!!!!KAPITAL B ang manager or ang crew nila..BUGOK…
Basta Chowking Velez ha… not Divisoria… didto sa may agfa colors sa una…
Hmm… I am not a fan of Chowking and I have never been inside that branch..I do not see it as safe…
hmmm…i emphatize with what happened to you tolitz. but are you really sure nga gi-disconnect you? i mean, if that’s what happened, it’s really rude and a big turn off to us yuppies. i’ve asked my brother in law in iligan who’s working in pldt-maratel if it’s possible to turn off selectively 1 customer’s wifi connection while the others enjoy theirs and the answer was negative.
the NEGATIVE comment and reaction to Chowking Velez wifi free service was TOTALLY EXAGERATED. In any internet service, a trouble may come in at anytime. There could have been trouble of their internet service at that time. Well, the complainant could have relayed his complaint to the concerned management of Chowking velez. I think going to them (the management) could have been the most appropriate action. this is a mature way of handling a situation and not just bark to anyone.
I have been a regular customer of chowking velez and I am satisfied with their service. Of course, their wifi free service is not that excellent due to technical limitations but it is still free.
Hello Oliver,
Your in law is right but FYI, I am the only one using their WIFI connection that time and that could be possible to cut the connection right away since there’s no other user that time and more info for you, there are only few and most of the times no one likes to use their WIFI connection there. I only dropped by there for Brunch but if I would really want to use wifi in public, I always go to Brewberry Cafe or Gazebo Cafe, I could spend the same cost of food or drink with what I spend with Chowking but the difference is chowking is very inconvenient for me and for most WIFI users.
So, for those whoever out there who wants to enjoy using WIFI in public restos or cafes don’t even try Chowking Velez Branch, because you might experience what I experienced.
Cheers,
Tolits
Good Luck to you Rudy Mijares!
That’s my second time using their free Wifi… the first time is an awesome connection only they forgot to serve my second order for about almost 15-20 minutes but I didn’t bother about my order that time because I am working with my laptop… they only served my order when the manager came to me asking what my order was since I still have the table number on the table and she said sorry.
Basta Good Luck sa imo… padayon sa imo support sa chowking because they are very good with you… but you still cannot convince me to patronize them.
LoL! I’m glad I’m not a fan of chowking. that’s just it.
mas lami tong naa sa comissary..hahahaha…you know who he is…
hahaha….ur post is very funny and true to life story. Packing Sheets nga! Hate that kind of service! better visit my blog too..http://www.cagayandeororeviews.blogspot.com
well, that branch really sucks… aside from the managers who are really rude & don’t know how to do customer service well… kita naman sa face nila plastic kung mag greet ng customer… that branch is also somekind of MALAS … kc as i’ve learned some managers may ka live-in…. bad fengshui huh….
The Site unlimited WiFi connection pro if daghan namo user ay…baklay ginagmay.
regards ko sa IT Specialist Idol 4Ever!!!
hmmm pretty sharp comments … i’m not a regular Chowking customer but i would say I like their food and service. They may not entirely have the service that we customers want but your comment about the wifi thing is kinda sick to hear. You could have told the Manager about your problem so that they could either fix it or inform you the reason why their wifi is down. And for those who leave awkward posts here, be very carefull of what you’re saying. Sometimes what we say, reflects to what and who we really are.
Good Luck! kay naka kaon nako ug chao fan sa una nga naay bildo… I don’t know maybe sa rice to wala nabantayan kay sometimes naa man ana nga mahitabo sa rice mill naa masagol, but still it’s a bad impression pa rin.
I recommend AROMA cafe. its on the ground floor of stonestown building near SMd. Wifi is unlimited and the crew are very unmindful of you.. well except if your order because they will really mind you
nice and cozy place and the music is really nice.. I love this place!
Am surprised to learn the issue hadn’t died down yet…it’s so sad, freedom of expression is used as a pretext to malign an otherwise reputable establishment and its people. Nanliit aq with below the belt comments posted in here. I can’t imagine educated people stooping so low just to get even and mindlessly join the bandwagon. I applaud those who had the moral courage to stand against the more popular whining statements/claims posted here.
If it feels you better, am here at Chowking Velez validating comments posted here. Far from what’s posted here, the food is great and the crew are efficient. Just love the emperor’s beef noodle. hehehe. Wla q ga-plug…good things are meant to be shared…tchau for now, til my next visit in cdo.
@Oliver Mendoza – yeah… ana man jud na. Lami man ilang foods and I still like their foods til now. kato lang jud nga time gi tira lang jud ko nila kay they really want me to get out of the place na kay wala nako nag eat and there are a lot of customers coming in na that time.
The incident happened sometime last March 4, 2009 based on the date it was posted. So when Oliver visit Chowking last October 2009, maybe theres a lot of changes already, the crew are already friendly not just what had Tolits experience during his time.
Kato man gud nga time after pag cut sa connection, wala na koy plano to talk to the management why they cut it off. I am pissed na that time so nigawas nalang dayon ko deretso, anyway I have internet sa balay. Medyo inconvenient lang gyud kaayo to nga incident for me.
hmmm, i haven’t been there in chowking velez, but i don’t hink ing-ana sila ka-rude didto because i know someone in there and complete man tyo siya ug training, but don’t know..am not sure. Nag-reply gani siya sa inyong post, nabasa nako. well, good luck sa inyo. i think this issue has to die na kasi nangyari man ‘yon, the good thing is nag-improve naman sila as validated by someone in here.
@Addie – Mag one year naman ni nga post and I think natulog na ni nga post. Ug naka move-on na ko. aheheheh… Maybe na change na sila kay nakita man ni nila nga post sa una, I think naka help ra pud ni nga blog post to further improve their services towards their customers.
But after that incident wala na jud ko naka balik ana nga branch and wala koy plano mubalik diha ever, maybe if a client or a friend invited me and important nga didto jud… basin makasulod ko but if possible mangita jud ko ug lain place.
And na observed lang nako ang Chowking DV kay murag dili na ga open 24 hours kay pila na ka times nga nilabay ko didto on a wee hours kay closed sila.
Ngano kaha…?
dili na guro kaya..haha. well, that’s nice to hear..chege.
One of the managers is a student of mine this sem. I mentioned this to him and he said okay na daw.. Well, dugay na jud sad kau ni nga post but wala lang, nalingaw ko..
I still haven’t stepped inside that branch kay lau kau xa for me… I would rather go to Gaisano kay daghan pa ka mabuhat after.. But like what I said, I am not a Chowking fAn.. so the chances are slim..
i had once eaten there in chowking velez.it’s true they have poor service there.i like it in divisoria. about the wifi stuff may gosh it’s very disgusting to cut off your connection.what’s the use of the free wifi service/ better have no internet connection mas masabtan pa.

[...] year ago, my friend Robstroy shared his sentiment with Chowking Velez. you can read his post on how Chowking Velez suck [...]
TO Rudy Mijares and arbiter,
Do you think what’s best is for the Management to see what’s best for their customers and not the other way around? Good service is good service no exemptions. Why need to open up things to the Managers/Supervisors if they know they’re doing their best if not then taste the bitterness of reality.
“Sometimes what we say, reflects to what and who we really are”, that is true but in this case what if the incident happened again recently. How can you justify that?
Winona Rider.
what the crews did was rude and full of stupidity, i support u bro for this crusade, its not a surprise too coz most of these workers were not really that highly educated di ba, but it doesnt mean that they wont act in a courteous manner, customers should deserve polite services, and for u Rudy Mijares, magkano ba?, ano ba talaga Rudy?, be open- minded Rudy my boy.

thats very bad of you to say something like that you may not really how networking for an internet connection works it may sometimes be cut out because connection is interrupted and most likely when you do something important you don’t blame it on the wifi connection they are giving… its really ver unlikely of you to be like that if you enter any other restaurant other than chowking crews will also greet you but their faces doesnt go along with their greeting so why not ask yourself why do you think these people are like that… anyways as constant costumer of that branch i could say that the store has its own shortcomings but then if you already tried working in a fastfood chain you will more likely to understand the crews part in the store…. i thank you/……heheheheh
Kay it’s not a good example nga mag work ka for the sake of receiving salaries.
Or else you better quit on that job.
Sa internet connection… dai, sa kadugay na nako sa internet world ug sa kapila nako gamit wifi bisan asa… kabalo ko unsa ang gituyo ug putol ug unsa ang naputol because naay problema. Kato ako experienced, naka save na ang password sa ako laptop and after pagka putol nangayo na sad ug password. So unsa pasabot ana? that means gi-putol nila ang connection then ila gi-changed ang password. Kay kung naka saved na ang password sa akong laptop for that certain connection dili na dapat mangayo pa ug password ang system. So, dili ko nila mailad about that… ok? gets nimo?
If I where them they should leave a note first like “You have 5 minutes to pack up you things. Kasi ginawa mo na tong tambayan, ang binili mo lang ay isang bottle na mineral water. So scram, pa laptop laptop kapa mineral water lang binili mo.” Like this message or short of.
