
Hurray! Eliminations of the 35th National Milo Marathon will be held on October 16, 2011 here in Cagayan de Oro City as the first stop for Mindanao Regional leg. There will be more or less 12,000 expected participants for Cagayan de Oro City leg elimination.
Milo Marathon will be held in 18 provinces for the elimination legs and the Milo Marathon National Finals in December. The 18 elimination legs has been held in Laoag, Dagupan, Olongapo City, Tarlac, Manila, Batangas, Puerto Princessa, Naga, San Pablo, Iloilo and Bacolod. The following that will be held on this month of October are in Cebu, Tagbilaran, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, General Santos, and Davao will be in November and the Finals will be in December 11, 2011 in Manila.
Registration for Cagayan de Oro is now going on so hurry up because I heard that 10K and 21K has limited slots only. I will register on Monday.

Last year we have experienced the scheduling blackouts all over Mindanao because of the effects of El Nino, that reduced the water levels in our dams and other water systems in Mindanao where hydro power plants were installed. It really gave us all such pain in the behind because the 4-5 hours daily scheduled black outs affects our jobs and daily lives. A year has passed and the people seems forgot about that time and we seems so lenient now thinking everything was just a history.
But HEY! don’t be so relax about it because we are still in the RED ALERT despite the heavy rains we are experiencing today, blackout can still happens, though maybe rarely but are we going to wait until we are in dire needs of energy for electricity? Don’t you think that our necessity for hydro electric power plant may used up and time will come that we need to seek other alternatives to compliment our hydro power plants? Miss Kagay-an 2011 is candidate number 6, Angel Carbajal a 20-year old BS Nursing student of Capitol University. All the candidates presented their selves in their own way to deserve to be a winner but Angel Carbajal outshined them all with her Filipina beauty, nice poise, bearing and corresponded it with intellectual answer. Angel is also Miss Kapuso GMA, Darling of the Press and Miss Sunstar CDO.

Candidate No. 8 Jamie Joy Bantique a student of MUST is the 1st Runner-up who also brought home more or less 7 special awards. Best in Casual wear, ABS-CBN Kapamilya Star of the Night, Best in Talent and Miss Sunsilk, Best in Evening Gown and Miss Creamsilk, Texter’s Choice, Miss Nature Spring and Miss Samsung.

PRESS RELEASE: KAGAY-AN FESTIVAL 5th FLOAT PARADE
August 18, 2011
There will be major changes in parade route for the Float Parade this year in consideration of the ongoing construction of Marcos Highway fly-over. The 5th Float Parade is set on August 27 Saturday and supervised by Pueblo de oro Development Corporation for Promote CDO.
Spectators are advised that the parade will still kick off from Rodelsa Circle by 7am passing thru Velez St. But instead to going straight towards Velez-Licoan-Recto junction, the parade will turn from Velez Street to Luna St then go straight to Osmena St. From Osmena, the participants will turn right towards Coca-Cola plant in Claro Recto and proceed to Limketkai Drive main entry point in Lapasan where the end point of the Parade will be held.
There are 69 confirmed participants which will include 15 competing floats, 2 sponsor floats, 22 drum and bugle corps and some civic organization groups, including from the PNP, Philippine Army, Coast Guard among others.
5th Float Parade participants are requested to be at the assembly area as early as 5:30am. The City PNP has assured the organizers that security will be tightened for the participants and spectators.
There will be showbiz personalities who will join the parade, including the winners of Ms. Kagay-an 2011, city officials and a lot more.
Limketkai center will serve as the last judging point for the float parade competition and drum and bugle corp.
