A Day at Dahilayan Adventure Park

Cagayan de Oro is the start off point one-hour ride going to Dahilayan Adventure Park. It’s a Go for CDO going to Dahilayan! This once foggy farm land at the foot of the Mt Kitanglad is now a world class adventure destination not only in Mindanao but all throughout the Philippines. This was also became part of the movie “Forever and a Day” of Sam Milby and KC Conception. Tourists from all over the country and the world never missed to visit this breath-taking adventure place in Mindanao, because of its luscious mountain greenery. A park situated 4,700 feet above sea level makes your day a foggy disposition specially during the afternoon.

Mr. Elpie Paras welcomed us the CDOBloggers upon our arrival at Dahilayan Adventure Park. We were invited to be there to experience the new and improved ZipZone Dahilayan Adventure Park with more new rides and fun activities to do. We were then introduced to Mr. Benjie Paras to tour us around the Adventure Park with his truck.

Dahilayan Forest Park

Mr. Benjie showed us around and we stopped on every corner of the park from the Pine Grove Mountain Lodge as our starting point, we passed by the forest park then to the launch tower, where the 840 meters long dual zip line will start. Then we headed towards the windy area where we can clearly gaze at the peak of the Mt. Kitanglad. It was really like trekking on the summer of the mountains of Switzerland or New Zealand minus the snow-capped mountains. The scenery will make you think you are not in the Philippines. Turned around to the other side of the park where the big sign “FOREST PARK” was located and took some photos and videos as souvenir of the wonderful haven.

We then spent few minutes at the Dahilayan Gardens for a little rest and refreshments. But this is not just an ordinary garden because it is a perfect location for prenuptials photo ops and even a place for the wedding ceremony and reception. Really a stunning elevated place that awes me by the time I set my eyes on the place. The route that we followed is also the track of the ATV driving activity, for 400 pesos you can enjoy the 20 minutes’ drive around the park area.

Other activities and recreations that you can enjoy aside from the Zipline are:

  • Mini Boat Ski Ride
  • Zorbit
  • Horseback Riding
  • 360 Degrees Kicking Swing at the Saddle Ridge Camp
  • 120 Meters Drop Zone
  • Ropes Course
  • Wall Climbing

Don’t worry if you are tight on budget, because I can assure you that you can still enjoy at the park even without taking on any of the activities I mentioned. You can take your family and friends with you on a trekking, camping and have a picnic under the greenery of pine trees with a cool breeze of wind. Truly Dahilayan Adventure Park is a perfect place for having quality time with your family and friends on a weekend and special events.

Tree Planting and Trekking Adventure at Mapawa, Gango and Pelaez Ranch

I am not really a mountain climber or a mountain trekker, though I love watching National Geographic Channel’s shows. It encourages me to try those adventures they have had on their shows and my friends from Rebirth FM (an online radio station), been on the trekking journeys around the mountains that surrounds the city of Cagayan de Oro, like Malasag, and some parts of Bukidnon like Gango in Libona. They have been saying it as a beginner’s course of a trek but for me as a person who has not been so exposed on those kinds of journeys, hiking on those not so mountainous areas under the scourging heat of the sun plus uphill rocky and grassy terrains makes it an advance course. Good thing I have been jogging 2 to 3 times a week for the past few months and it helps my stamina to go on that trek without passing out, it would have been a great embarrassment for me if I did while the girls on the group are just feeling good about the trek. Bugsay, Bugsay Giling2x Jutay! – The CDO Bugsay White Water Rafting Adventure

It was really fun and exciting whenever I tried White Water River Rafting. Yes, as you all know I’ve been trying rafting like forever. Since 2007, I’ve been going back to the wild river of Cagayan de Oro City to try paddling over those gushing water passing though some boulders and rocks on a raft. I can’t help it, I just love the excitement feeling it creates whenever I’ve been shattered by the wild water rapids of the river on a raft. As we all know Cagayan de Oro River is an all-year-round rafting destination in the Philippines. I am pretty sure that this has been featured in some national TV programs and of course celebrities don’t want to be the last to try the adventure it gives and there are a lot of celeb and icons who tried it can testify that it is really an exhilarating experience. Group Trips are Fun if there are no Drama Queens

Travelling with friends is fun, specially when all of your friends you travelled with are not a pain in the ass. Everytime I travel or go on in an adventure, I always make sure that I will not be a pain in the ass to the people I am travelling with, but of course except for emergencies and unprecedented events. I know how it feels when a certain person or a friend spoils your trips, adventures or vacations by becoming a drama queen, like they are sick, they need to go home because of this and that and a lot of excuses. It feels like you want to kick them and send them right in-front of their home like a rocket but you just can’t and at the end, all of you will end up going home unsatisfied of your adventures because of the queen bee wannabe.

So, just a warning for those who travels with friends or group trips, make sure you don’t bring with you your friends who tend to be a drama queen or king when travelling and also those spoilers and pain in the ass, because it will be expected that you cannot enjoy your adventures, group trips and travels later on. Himantayon Tried Water Rafting Adventure in Cagayan de Oro Once Again

Boulders and rocks, landslides on the river banks, awesome sceneries, water rapids, brown wild river, paddles and rafts are all you need to enjoy the White water rafting in Cagayan de Oro river. It’s my second time carrying out an adventure like this and this time, I see to it that I am taking a crack at the most adventurous part… the advance course where water rapids are on its hardest approach (as what they say).

Anyway, together with Elva, Lawrence, Eldie, and another 3 from Manila and Jomar – a tourism student of Liceo de Cagayan University joined us on this course of adventure. Starting at the boundary of Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City, we give it a try to face the rapids of the freshly ruined river by the flash flood 2 weeks ago. On the first few rapids it is exhilarating because on our raft, 3 of them are first timer and I am the second timer excluding the 3 guides on the raft. Their facial expressions were uncertainties about what is it there to offer when we pass through those inviting yet scary water rapids… but later on after surpassing those rapids, they gained confidence and courage that they really can do it and that is where we all started to shout and cheers on every rapids we pass through. A high five using our paddles is a sign that the rapids we just crossed is a success.

For about a couple of years passed since I tried my last water rafting, you can still see the awesome scenery of the caves, the abrupt rocky walls beside the river, the green vegetation, the gorges and the resting haven of monkeys and snakes and those small waterfalls and cathedral like rock formations along the river walls are just awesome great to gaze at…

After that 17 kilometres more or less path of the river rafting course we had, we headed promptly to the Macahambus Adventure Park where we tried walking at the more or less a hundred meters high sky bridge/hanging bridge, and zipping down on the cablelines on the Zipline. It was a splendid experience and definitely an exciting one… So, what are you waiting for? Come and experience the adventure of the Kagay-anon’s way.
